Description:

This project aims to enhance current 5G system with positioning service to support new industrialization and intelligent manufacturing. For this purpose, project team are going to implement following four items: 1. 5G solution enhancement for positioning support: - Radio Access Network (RAN): Protocol Stack (PS) and Physical (Phy) layer positioning reference design. - Core: New Network Functions (NFs) development and existing NFs enhancement for positioning support. 2. 5G + Sensor fusion positioning design and implementation. 3. Application use case (5G-Enabled Cloud Robotics) development. 4. Build End-to-End (E2E) Location Service (LCS) enabled 5G network for testing and demonstration. This project is to support Hong Kong Government's Innovation &Technology (I&T) Development Blueprint. It will benefit the overall development of I&T ecosystem. By application use case design and implementation, project team will provide reference design for a 5G-enabled cloud robot, which can be leveraged by local industries to build commercial robotic systems for logistic and manufacturing.
