Description:

Internationally, there is increasing market demand for satellite communications services to provide connectivity across the world. 5G satellite communications can leverage economies of scale from the existing global mobile cellular ecosystem to bring satellite communications to mainstream markets using common devices. This project will deliver a new 5G base station physical layer reference design with Third Generation Partnership Project ("3GPP") Release 17 non-terrestrial network ("NTN") features. Moreover, to diversify supply chain, the 5G base station physical layer reference design will have 2 variants including 1) mainstream hardware platform and 2) hardware platform with chipsets designed and produced in Mainland China. A number of companies have shown strong interests in collaborating with ASTRI and adopting our technologies to be developed from this project. Initially engaged customers include a network equipment vendor and a test equipment vendor.
