ASTRI Welcomes Appointments To Its Board Of Directors

[21 October 2024, Hong Kong] Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) welcomes the HKSAR Government’s appointment of four new members and re-appointment of six serving members to its Board of Directors for a two-year term commencing 21 October 2024.

The newly appointed members are:
• Prof Cheng Shuk-han, MH
Associate Vice President (Research) and Executive Director of Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study, City University of Hong Kong

• Mr Jason Chiu Tsz-kiu, JP
Founder, Cherrypicks

• Mr Dennis Ho Chiu-ping
Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers

• Ir Arthur Lee Kam-hung
Founder and Chairman, Kolinker Group

The re-appointed members are:

• Mr William Ho Tat
• Mr Theodore Ma Heng

• Ir Dr Samson Tai Kin-hon
• Mr Anthony Tong Tat-hay

Ir Sunny Lee, Chairman of ASTRI stated, “On behalf of the Board, we are delighted to welcome four new members. Their extensive industry experience and professional knowledge will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to guide ASTRI in fulfilling our mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. By fostering technological collaborations within Greater Bay Area, across Mainland China, and internationally, we will drive the development of New Quality Productive Forces and contribute to Hong Kong and our country’s innovation and technology (I&T) landscape.”

The tenure of four incumbent Board of Directors has expired, including Mr Charles Chow Sai-keung, Prof Steve Chuang Tzu-hsiung, Mr Edmund Lee Chi-wai and Ms Ada Wong Yin-man. Ir Lee expressed heartfelt gratitude for their support and contributions to ASTRI and the city’s I&T development during their term.

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; Innovative Mind; and IoT Sensing and AI Technologies.
